ABOUT ZEST WEG

Zest WEG CSI

Our Corporate Social Investment (CSI) approach is aligned with the organisation’s values, policies and strategy.

Zest WEG strives to be responsive to the needs of our communities in which we operate, live and have influence, where we strive to ensure that our ideas, people and resources make a lasting difference. We have taken it upon ourselves to leave a legacy by playing a significant role in shaping the leaders of tomorrow by committing to working with communities, institutions and other like-minded partners to improve access to education.

Education and Technical skills training

The South African Department of Labour has identified skills shortfalls as being particularly high in terms of required engineers, technicians, artisans and skilled labourers.

Zest WEG’s social investment and development programme attempts to address these needs through supporting projects providing:

  • Education and training in the under-resourced areas of maths and science for both educators and learners at secondary school level
  • Technical skills training at school leaver level, particularly programmes focused on training in the electrical engineering field, which is done through donating various engineering products to TVET colleges (previously known as FET College).
  • Support of community education facilities and bursaries for the underprivileged.

CSI upliftment projects also have an internal focus whereby the group concentrates on the development of its own people. This take place at various levels including Adult Based Education Training (ABET), in-service training, technical learnerships, graduate programmes leading to ECSA professions, Management Advancement Programmes (MAP) and MBA’s.
