Variable Speed Drive CFW 11 Training

Course Duration: 2 Days

This course will concentrate on the WEG CFW 11

DAY 1: Introduction and Basics of VSDs

  • The theory in this course covers the basic principles of operation of a VSD, as well as the correct manner in which to select a VSD for any given application, e.g. pumps, conveyors, etc.
  • All aspects of installation including cooling, selection of the correct fuses, environmental and reactor requirements are covered as well as the basic parameters and initial setup at commissioning including those parameters most often used in industry.

DAY 2: Complete Programming of VSDs

  • The complete parameters of Variable Speed Drives will be covered, including comprehensive descriptions and explanations of each of these parameters.
  • User fault finding including full descriptions of faults, possible causes and remedies will be covered. A demonstration of available drives software will be done.
  • Practical experience with hands-on exercises and a final practical task will be given.

Variable Speed Drive CFW 09 Training

Course Duration: 2 Days

This course will concentrate on either the WEG CFW 09

DAY 1: Introduction and Basics of VSDs

Variable Speed Drive CFW 701 (HVAC) Training

Course Duration: 2 Days

This course will concentrate on the WEG CFW 701 HVA

DAY 1: Introduction and Overview of CFW 701 VSD

The theory of this course covers the following:

  • Basic understanding of a HVAC VSD, as well as the simplicity and layout (external and internal) of the different frame sizes and power ratings which includes the model identification, electrical installation, dynamic braking, Digital and Analog inputs and outputs.
  • Technical specifications – the hardware applicable to this Drive and accessories both factory installed and/ or user installed.
  • Programming – basic instructions by using either keypad or Superdrive will also be discussed with a detailed description of the parameters. We will start with the initial set-up at commissioning then follow on to those parameters most often used in different control modes.
  • Description of the Oriented start-up and Energy Saving settings, followed by special settings which include Fire Mode, Bypass Mode, Dry Pump, Broken Belt Detection, Short Cycle Protection and Filter Maintenance Alarm. 

The discussion of the Main PID and the settings complete the theory part.  

DAY 2: Complete Programming of VSDs

  • Demonstration of the Special Control Modes and applicable parameters of HVAC Drives, including comprehensive descriptions and explanations of each of these parameters.
  • User overview of fault finding including full descriptions of Alarms and Faults, possible causes and remedies.
  • Demonstration of the SuperDrive G2 software will be done including instructions on how to setup PID.
  • Practical experience with 12 hands-on exercises.

Soft Starter (SS) Training

Course Duration: 1 Day

Introduction and Basics of Soft Starters

  • The theory in this course will cover the basic principles of Soft Starter operation and how to select soft starters for any given application, e.g. pumps, conveyors, etc.
  • All aspects of installation will be covered. This includes cooling, the use and selection of correct fuses and environmental concerns.
  • We will cover the basic parameters and initial setup at commissioning, together with the parameters that are most commonly used in industry.
  • User fault finding including full descriptions of faults, possible causes and remedies.
  • Demonstrations on the Superdrive G2 and WLP Soft PLC will be done
  • The practical exercise will be to factory reset the Soft starter, program voltage ramp and Pump control as well as learning how to save the two control modes.

PLC WLP Training

Course Duration: 2 Days

CPD Points: 2.00

The purpose of this training is to learn how to program WEG VSDs, soft starter and Smart Relays by using WEG Ladder software.

DAY 1: Theory

  • A basic theoretical introduction to the PLC WLP programming will be covered, giving you a comprehensive understanding of the Numbering System.
  • All aspects of installation of the software WLP are covered in this course, including its function upon communication with the VSD.
  • Users will gain an understanding of the memory map and how to use the programs addresses.

DAY 2: Practical instructions and Program writing exercises

  • The practical aspect of this course involves tasks such as creating a project, Instruction set usage and exercises on writing a program using the instructions and simulation of the program on the training bench.
  • Training is concluded upon completion of the program writing exercises.

Electric Motor Training

Course Duration: 1 Day

The purpose of this training is to provide an understanding on both the electrical and the mechanical aspects of electric motors, accessories, product lines as well as selection and application.

Drives Service Training

Course Duration: 1 Day

CPD Points: 1.00

The purpose of this training is to learn more about Trouble shooting philosophy, measuring tools, VSD Theory of operation, frequency converter faults, ESD (Electric Static Discharge) and how to use and understand the service manual.

Important prerequisites for this course attendance:

The learner must have previous experience in maintaining AC Drive Systems, operational knowledge of VSDs and/ or having completed the basic Variable Speed Drive training course.

The theory portion of this course will cover the following areas:

  • Trouble shooting philosophy
  • Basic VSD theory of operation
  • Oscilloscope operation
  • IGBT theory
  • Frequency converter faults
  • Power-up tests
  • ESD (Electric Static Discharge)
  • Using and understanding the service manual

The practical portion is based on using the CFW09 service manual as a support in fault finding. The learner will then use a multimeter to run tests on a demo frame size 8 CFW09 Drive unit.

Smart Relay SRW-01 Training

The purpose of this training is to provide customers with a detailed understanding on the use and maintenance of the Smart Relay.

Important prerequisites for this course attendance:

The learner must have background knowledge of three phase motors and the protection of motor.
